All Get Out Album Update

We reached a milestone in our career as a band on Saturday evening.  We walked away from Marigolds and Monsters studio Saturday night having fully mixed our first full length record.

It started two years ago as we started writing songs for a full length record after we released ‘The Spitting EP’.  We did a set of demos of about 5 songs at our house in Charleston and began playing some of those songs live.  We wrote more songs a year later, did more demos in preparation for the unseen day when we would record a full length.  In the mean time, we released the self-titled EP, which included the songs from the Spitting EP and a couple more.

Many of you supported us with that record, bought it, told your friends about it, leaked it, burned it, and spread it around. We’re thankful for that.  (even those of you who leaked the record.  Yes it’s money out of our pockets and not the preferred way of getting our music in the hands of listeners, but we realize that that’s how many of you have even heard of our band).

We did one more set of demos and all of a sudden, it was time to record a full length record.  We walked in with about 15-17 songs for the record and finally got down to 10 songs for the record.  We spent a week doing preproduction with Matt Malpass, an amazing producer in Atlanta, GA.  We went straight from preproduction to recording the record for about 5 weeks.  We walked away after recording feeling very good about the record.

Some months later, we returned to Atlanta to Marigolds and Monsters Studio, to mix the record.  It was a week full of fun and adventure, but sometimes challenging, knowing that the decisions we made this past week, would be our final decisions in the mix of our first full length record.

Making a freshman LP can be challenging.  We wanted to capture the essence of All Get Out in a 10 song recording and do it justice. We have had an amazing team involved in making this happen.  We were able to have some of our great friends come in and be a part of the recording as well.  It was also great to have Matt Malpass as our producer.  Matt has an amazing ear and honestly made us a better band during the recording of this record.  Jeremiah Edmond, who runs our label, Favorite Gentlemen, also had a very strong creative hand in this process, making sure all along that we were making the record that our band needed to make.  Our manager, Jeremiah Romo, is an awesome brain behind the operations of All Get Out and offered awesome guidance through the recording process, many times, keeping us sane.

At this point, we feel as if we can breathe a sigh of relief having this part of the process over.  While it is a relief, it’s also a very nerve-wracking season to walk into.  To know that we are still a few months from the release of this project, and there are still many more steps to the process before there’s something tangible in your hands (mastering, artwork, pressing, etc.), makes us a bit anxious to finish this.  And then there’s the thought in the back of all our heads, “Okay, we did the best we could, but are folks actually going to like the record?”

We find more and more that being in a band, writing songs, touring, making records, all takes sacrifice and an incredible level of faith; faith in what you do, faith in your songs, the thoughts that you want to communicate through the songs, and so much more.

We are very greatful to everyone who has been a part of the last 3 years of our lives.

It’s great to celebrate this part of the process and are looking forward to the next few months.  We are very excited about this record and are anxious to get it to you all.  We should be releasing a single or two as well as other little treats for you as we lead up to the release of this record.  We feel like we’ve captured All Get Out in a few songs.  This is the story of our lives and maybe you’ll find your story in these songs as well.

We’re stoked and hope you are too.
